Mount Vernon Insider: City of Mount Vernon: STATEMENT ABOUT AIR QUALITY ALERT.

STATEMENT ABOUT AIR QUALITY ALERT:

Due to the extreme haze and diminishing air quality from the Canadian wildfires, the City of Mount Vernon is issuing an Air Quality Health Advisory. To protect our most vulnerable populations including children, the elderly, and those with underlying respiratory conditions, we are cancelling all scheduled, outdoor city events and activities for the day. We recommend all residents take precautionary measures by limiting outdoor exposure, closing windows, wearing only K-95 masks, and using air purifiers if available. We encourage all residents, businesses, and organizations to follow this guidance and the recommendations of the Westchester County Department of Health to stay abreast of all advisories over the next few days as they will provide the most accurate and specific instructions. Following their recommendations will help ensure the well-being and safety of all residents, especially those who are most susceptible to the effects of poor air quality.
