Mount Vernon Insider: City of Mount Vernon: Christmas Message From Comptroller Elect.

December 24, 2021

Dear Mount Vernon Taxpayers and Residents, Happy Holidays to you and your family!

As we prepare to enjoy time with our family members and friends during this holiday season, I pray that you will receive all the blessings of God. The holiday season provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the year and be inspired for tremendous possibilities in the upcoming year.
These past two years, during the COVID pandemic, have been extremely challenging for us all in so many ways. We have seen an unbelievable amount of sickness and death affecting us individually and collectively. Our economy has suffered, supply and demand deficiencies have made this holiday season more stressful, and many are unable to enjoy the traditional exchange of gifts. Nevertheless, the great gift we have is life itself and the ability to make a difference. I encourage you to take this advantage to enjoy time with your family and friends.

I look forward to taking office as your City Comptroller on January 1, 2022. It is my commitment to work diligently for the improvement of our City and its financial status. Please note this will not be a simple task and will take some time to resolve all our issues. I ask that you be patient, not draw conclusion prematurely, and when necessary ask questions to me directly. Under my leadership, the Finance Department will function with competence, efficiency and transparency.

Once again, thank you for electing me as your Comptroller. holiday and happy new year.

Yours in service,

Darren M. Morton, Ed.D., CPRP
Comptroller-Elect
