News from Mount Vernon Public Library.

914-668-1460

Dear Mount Vernon Resident,

The Mount Vernon Public Library has made tremendous strides over the past few years and we have to thank you for your continued support. Our goal is to create a central library that we can be proud of; a place where people can come not only for literary material but a wide range of resources designed to improve the quality of your life.

As we progress forward with exciting and innovative programming, our collection of materials and technological resources is growing and improving. We are well on our way in creating a new space just for our teens that will provide them with a greater ability to cross the digital divide. Our younger patrons are already utilizing improved digital access through upgrades to computers in our children's room and we have continued to develop partnerships with our community agencies. Things are looking great at the Mount Vernon Public Library.

As a resident of Mount Vernon, I feel you should be allowed to share in the wonderful news concerning the Mount Vernon Public Library. The Board of Trustees of the Mount Vernon Public Library and staff would love for you to be a part of a celebration of our achievements. We invite you to our Open House to be held on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 6:00 pm. At this event the Board of Trustees will provide a brief synopsis of our accomplishments and plans for this year.

Sincerely,

Oscar Davis Jr.

GET FREE ACCESS TO ONLINE LEGAL DATABASE
AVAILABLE AT THE LIBRARY
Library cardholders can now access an online legal research service that contains 40,000 databases of case law, city, state and federal statutes, administrative codes, newspaper and magazine articles, public records, law journals, law reviews, treatises, legal forms and other information resources. Service is limited to New York State laws and rulings, plus Federal laws and rulings that encompass New York State jurisdictions. Computer access, on a first-come, first-served basis, is available in the Reference Room during regular library hours.

We're bridging the digital divide at the library. A new  Teen Lab - Young Adult Area will include designated workspace with computers, study space, and media training space. An added benefit will be the availability of laptop computers that teens/young adults will be able to check out and use off-site. Now, how great is that?

Your library is FREE and opens doors to learning, relaxation and adventure.
