Mount Vernon Insider: City of Mount Vernon City Comptroller Darren Morton: Free COVID-19 Tests Available NOW.

As Mount Vernon strives to set a new direction, it is important for residents of our city to not only be concerned about our financial health but mindful of our own personal health. We all know of the devastation COVID-19 has wreaked upon the world. Most of us know of someone who has been infected or lost the battle to this virus. At-home tests are being offered free of charge to families throughout the nation. Four free at-home tests will be mailed to you simply by ordering them online.

There are two types of tests for COVID-19. Viral tests tell you if you have a current infection, and antibody tests tell you if you've been previously infected. If you’re experiencing symptoms or think you’ve been exposed to COVID-19, contact your health care provider or your state or local public health department to find out where you can get tested. Tests are available at many health centers and some pharmacies. Call in advance to see if an appointment is required. The testing process and timeline for results vary by location.

Please take advantage of this free opportunity and encourage friends and family who have not already done so to get vaccinated and boosted. Protect yourselves and your families by wearing a mask and following COVID-19 safety protocols.
