Mayor Wallace Moves Forward with Memorial Field.

MOUNT VERNON, NY: (August 13, 2019) – Mayor Wallace has made available the bid package for potential vendors to tour the site of Memorial Field and submit sealed bids to clean up the site, in accordance with the directives of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
Bid packages are available until August 18, 2019 at the City Clerk’s Office for interested vendors. All interested bids must be submitted by August 20, 2019 at 9:30 PM. A site walk-through is scheduled for today, August 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM
“This project will start moving quickly,” said Wallace. “The past administration and others have used this project as a political football for far too long. It’s time to get the site cleaned up so the County can start construction. I will reach out to DEC to attempt to avoid the hundreds of thousands of dollars in penalties that inaction and political
grandstanding has cost this City over the last 10 years.”
All parties can now work together which leaves work to begin at the end of August and handed over to the County for construction in time for an opening next summer.
“Upon being sworn in as Mayor, ending the drama at Memorial Field has been one of my first priorities. We’re moving Memorial Field forward. No more wasting time. Let’s get to work,” said Wallace.
