LEGISLATORS WOODSON-SAMUELS AND TUBIOLO
ANNOUNCE IMA FOR MOUNT VERNON.
INTERMUNICIPAL AGREEMENT TO IMPROVE THE WEST 3RD STREET PUMP STATION.
WHITE PLAINS, New York ---- Westchester County Legislators Tyrae Woodson-Samuels, District 13, and David Tubiolo, District 14, together representing Mount Vernon, are proud to announce an Intermunicipal Agreement (IMA) between Westchester County and the City of Mount Vernon for the West 3rd Street Sewer Project.
Under this IMA, the County will coordinate with the City of Mount Vernon and partners in New York State Government to fund and design the construction of the West Third Street Pump Station and Sanitary Sewer Project. This project will serve to address the discharges of raw sewage and other pollutants from storm sewer systems into the Hutchinson and Bronx Rivers. Additionally, the improvements on the pump station will serve to assist areas that are prone to persistent flooding.
Legislator Woodson-Samuels stated, “The implementation of this project is poised to mitigate the burden on the community's infrastructure. The presence of a solitary pump stationed outside Levister Towers serves as the sole catalyst for the flushing of approximately 1,000 toilets in the vicinity. This $9 million investment holds immense potential in augmenting the standard of living for all residents in the city of Mount Vernon.”
Legislator Tubiolo added, “I’m proud to support my colleague Legislator Woodson-Samuels and the Mount Vernon community with this much needed project. Upgrading our infrastructure and sewage system is of vital importance to maintaining public health.”
The City of Mount Vernon, Westchester County, and New York State have commenced preparations for the upcoming sewer rehabilitation project at the 3rd Street Borehole Pump Station on W. Third Street between S. Seventh Avenue and S. Ninth Avenue. Over the past 18 months, all agencies have worked diligently to install a temporary bypass system, coordinate engineering resources and allocate funding to address the rehabilitation of this major sewer issue. We are installing additional road barriers to prepare for the upcoming construction work scheduled to begin within 1-2 weeks. The anticipated construction period until completion is 9 - 12 months. Residents are advised to expect; increased "No Parking" Areas and Traffic Pattern Disruptions, Intermittent Street Closures for Construction Equipment, Construction Noise, and Workforce from Multiple Contractors and Agencies. During the duration of this project, W. Third Street between S. Seventh Avenue and S. Ninth Avenue will be converted into a one-lane westbound. For any questions or concerns regarding this project, please contact dpwsewers@cmvny.com or 914-665-2339. #CMVNY |
Dear Mount Vernon, We must WIN the future! The sad truth is the current administration created losing conditions that made Mt. Vernon dangerous, dirty, and deadly. No one is satisfied with this nightmare version of our beloved community. It’s clear that our community is at a crossroads to determine the best way forward for safety, sustainable growth, and empowerment for all the citizens of our city. It’s time to make Mt. Vernon safe, clean, fun, and work for you again! I have a proven vision, proven plans, along with the compassion, courage, and competence in changing Mt. Vernon for good. From new bridges to revitalizing parks to fiercely protecting the people, I have been in the fight… and it wasn’t always easy. I’ve spent these last few years reflecting on my term as Mayor. And while I will be the first to admit that my tenure had its challenges, I believe what I experienced has positioned me to understand how we as a city can come together, use what we have, and move forward to redeem the American dream.

We're about halfway through the petitioning period and it's all hands on deck this weekend to make sure we collect the signatures we need to get myself and my running mates onto the ballot. We have just one month to collect 1000 signatures from Mount Vernon Democrats.
This Saturday, March 18th, I'm asking all of my supporters to come to Democratic HQ (1 Park Ave) at 11am for a petitioning day of action. We'll have breakfast, provide refresher training if you need it, and lists of Democrats to canvass. All we need is you and your friends who care about the future of Mount Vernon.
Hope to see you then.
Sincerely
Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard

Once elected, I will:
